False Hero Combo Builds
Two demo loadouts that actually spend Focus.
A False Hero “build” is not a class. There are no starting stats to respect. A build is which Combat Arts you bind, which Knowledge Points you spend, and whether you still mash the Blade of Wisdom like it pays rent. This page writes two kits you can finish inside the Steam demo. Pair them with the tier list and the loadout planner.
If you have zero arts, steal them first — Combat Arts. If you cannot dash without panic, fix controls before you copy a string of names.
Build 1 — Poke and Sweep (Ignorance)
Goal: fill stagger without standing in a limb.
Bind: Book Throw on a poke input, Spectral Blade on a heavy / trigger input.
Loop:
- Two sword hits. Focus ticks up. Stagger ticks up. You are not a hero yet; you are a battery.
- Book Throw when Ignorance leans into a long swing you cannot punish in melee.
- One dash through the hip, not away from it.
- Spectral Blade on the stagger pop, or on a recovered stagger if phase two is eating the bar.
- Walk. Do not triple-dash. Repeat from sword hits.
Upgrade: Book Throw first if you miss melee timings. Spectral Blade first if you already sit inside the boss and need the wide hitbox patch to matter.
Why it works: different arts in sequence, which the tutorial claims is always faster than repeating one art. Ignorance’s patch history (slower stab, less lingering, slower phase-two stagger regen) still assumes you press something purple. This kit is that something.
Failure mode: empty stamina into a dash, then a sword poke during the boss’s recovery, then confusion about why you died. The build cannot save a stamina bankruptcy. See How to Beat Ignorance.
Build 2 — Unblockable Machine Breaker
Goal: delete poise fantasies after you own the tentacle.
Bind: Ignorance Tentacle on your commit button, Evasive Thrust on a movement-adjacent button. Keep Book Throw if you have a third slot; drop Spectral Blade if you must choose, because unblockable beats wide when a construct is guarding.
Loop:
- Let the machine start a saw or cannon tell. Book Throw or a short walk, not a sprint into the blade.
- Tentacle on the opening. Unblockable means you do not wait for a guard to drop.
- Evasive Thrust out if the follow-up is a hip-check. You still deal damage while leaving.
- Sword hits only to refill Focus. Never as the main clip.
Upgrade: tentacle if the game allows a Knowledge Point dump on boss arts in your build. Otherwise Evasive Thrust, because the hitbox buff is wasted if you never press it.
Why it works: Red Guardian / Foreign Defense Machines were patched for lingering hurtboxes and lower poise. An unblockable sweep is how you collect that patch. Details on demo bosses.
Failure mode: flaming the tentacle into a wall camera. Unlock, centre, lock, then commit. The art is wide, not omniscient.
What not to build
- Sword saint. Patch prose exists to shame this.
- Double flamethrower. There is only one, and it was nerfed. Even if you could, you would be repeating the same art.
- Fashion DPS. Cerulean Cape stiffness was an animation note. Equip it because you like it.
- Insight farmer. You cannot farm the same enemy for extra Insight. Builds are not grind routes.
Launch-week warning
On 22 September 2026 the catalogue explodes. God powers, more lands, more bosses. These two kits remain the grammar: poke versus commit, Focus as a budget, dash as a tax. New arts will slot into the same sentences. When they do, this page will add a third kit instead of pretending demo Book Throw is forever S-tier in every biome.
Practise both loops on the demo checklist. If you can finish Ignorance on Build 1 and a machine on Build 2 without emptying stamina twice in a row, you are ready for the full Lands of the Gods. If you cannot, the tier list will not save you — the dash will.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for the Steam demo and the 22 Sep 2026 launch.
Are these the only good False Hero builds?
They are the two kits the demo actually supports. Full-game arts will add more sentences. The grammar — poke, commit, refill — stays.
Should I respec Knowledge Points?
The demo does not present a full respec fantasy. Spend points on the art you press. Do not split three ways.
Can I mix tentacle into the Ignorance fight?
Not on the first kill. You steal it after. Use Build 1 to get there, Build 2 afterwards.
