False Hero Demo Bosses

After Ignorance the False Hero demo stops being a scholar’s argument and becomes a factory accident. Community videos name Red Guardian and a Foreign Defense Machine / UPA. Official patch notes name Foreign Defense Machines and talk about their lingering hitboxes in the same breath as Ignorance. This page treats them as the second skill check, not as rumours.

Red Guardian

Footage shows a hovering, brick-and-brass construct in a red hall: a circular saw, a glowing core, steam, electric snaps. The husk stands in a stained cloak with a necklace of green lights and waits for a window that looks like a video-game window and is not. You dash through the saw’s recovery, not through the saw.

Play this like a dance with a lawnmower. Book Throw while the blade winds. Tentacle when the core is exposed. Evasive Thrust if the body lunges. Sword hits only to refill Focus. If you try to “trade” you will learn why mechanical beasts are on the Steam page’s boss list.

Foreign Defense Machines

The patch name is the one this wiki prefers. Lingering hurtboxes on some of their attacks were reduced in June. That means older “this hit me after the animation” clips are partly obsolete and partly still a warning. Poise on all demo bosses was lowered a little later. They still do not fold to the Blade of Wisdom.

UPA is a community label from a Spanish-language boss compilation. If your build’s subtitle says something longer and more official, you are in the right arena. The lesson does not change: large metal, delayed hurtboxes, camera in a box.

Shared rules for the machine chapter

• Rest at a Bloodspring before the fog. Poison from earlier rooms is a silent handicap.
• Lock-on in a red hall with a spinning disc will misbehave. Unlock, recentre, lock on the core.
• Red-flame rules still apply if a machine uses that tell: dash into the flame at contact. See Combat Arts for the parry, controls for the input.
• Do not farm the arena extras for Insight after you own the art. Same-enemy Insight is done.
• Boss-refight difficulties exist if you need pattern reps. They will not steal the tentacle for you.

How this connects to launch

Steam’s boss promise is a menagerie: arachnoids, machines, dragons, angelic horrors. The demo machines are the industrial third of that sentence. Screenshots already show a dragon on a ridge and an eye-beast on a chessboard — those are bosses hub material, not this page’s HP guesses.

If a machine fight feels worse than Ignorance, that is a kit problem more often than a “git gud” problem. Ignorance taught Focus. Machines demand the unblockable you just earned. Put it on a button, read How to Beat Ignorance only as a reminder of stagger discipline, and treat this hall as the demo’s real final exam.
